The quartet acknowledged as this decade's flagship Filipino band, Bamboo is set to rock the newly built Skydome at SM North EDSA on September 12, Saturday, 8 pm. This special gig featuring a successful foursome led by iconic vocalist Bamboo Manalac certainly adds glitter to the venue's rising reputation as a performing haven for topnotch local acts.
Fans of Bamboo are in for a major treat at what is being dubbed as the little Araneta Coliseum, especially with its intimate atmosphere that allows the audience to get a closer peek at the featured bill. "Bamboo Live at Skydome" should be an experience worth watching as the supergroup promises to deliver their biggest hits and other fan favorites from its growing catalogue.
"Bamboo is a premier act and rock fans shouldn't miss this occasion knowing that Skydome offers a fresh and differently exciting atmosphere as far as live concerts are concerned. The fact that the place is accessible to concert goers makes this event more attractive," said marketing expert Espie Eusebio of Viva Concerts which is producing the show.
One of Polyeast-EMI's top attractions, Bamboo has already in its arsenal a growing list of hits that began with the big track "Noypi", off their debut album "As The Music Plays" released in 2004 or just in time before an avalanche of new Pinoy rock bands stormed the market and ushered a new scene likened to or that even surpassed what the 90s alternative rock domination did. Other hit tracks in the chart-topping album are "Mr. Clay", and "Masaya."
In June 2005, the band had their second serving and came out with “LightPeaceLove." Hits from this album cemented the group's status as a hit-producing squad, with "Hallelujah” becoming a staple among rock aficionados. Its heavy radio airplay proved that the band is bound to stay, as other tracks kept coming, including ‘Much Has Been Said’, "F.U" and "Dinner at 6".
Bamboo's rise took the climb with a host of awards such as MTV Pilipinas 2004
Best New Artist, Best Group Favorite Song for “Noypi” at the 2004 NU 107 Rock Awards, as well as Band/Artist of the Year, Vocalist of the Year for Bamboo and Drummer of the Year for Vic Mercado. Radio station RX 93. 1 even picked "Masaya" as its 'Song of the Year."

"We're just happy growing as a band and we love keeping the energy among us when we're doing records," said the famous frontman who used to be the singer for Rivermaya and spent some time in the US to study film, only to go back to the land where he is regarded as one of the most remarkable rock voices ever.
With another ex-Rivermaya in Bamboo bass player Nathan Azarcon, music fans and experts knew from the start that Bamboo is made up of established musicians off to create a stir in the rocklandia. The inclusion of handsome veteran guitarist Ira Cruz and drummer Vic Mercado affirmed the supergroup package and resulted to instant fan base that grew with evey hit song delivered.
The band has likewise perfected its cover set, turning the Buklod original "Tatsulok" into its own piece and scoring a big hit, along with a music video that like other videos of the group visually presented its rocking image. Another edgy cover is its take on "Umagang Kay Ganda".
Much recently, more hits came off in the air like "Probinsiya" and "Kailan"-- the carrier single off their latest CD. Bamboo is currently promoting its newest single "Muli" as it closes in on the final months of a decade it dominated with a big sure-to-be-sold out concert at Skydome.
